I got my first bike at the age of 10, in a box. Pressed steel frame, a 1965 Yamaha YB80; my dad had the idea of building it up and using to work and back but I beat him to it. I would rush home from school every day and get stuck in; ripped out all the wiring and lights, cut the mudguards off found some old speedway knobblies and that was the start.
I finished school at New Forest High in Durban and off for two years of military service followed by an apprenticeship as a Millwright with South African Railways. Between work and everything else I studied at Durban Technical College for 13 years toward my Government Ticket in Mechanical Engineering. I left the railways and worked for Aserma Manufacturing for 5 years and then went on to work at O & R Manufacturing which I bought after two years and sold after eight.
During my time at O & R Manufacturing I started doing work for Tony Martin who I joined and TR-TEC Engineering in 2003. At this time I started adventure riding which led to the manufacturing of Motorcycle Adventure Accessories for brands such as BMW, Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM and Honda.
